WELCOME TO THE DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE PROPOSED PROJECT AT 400 MACKENZIE AVENUE. THIS PLAN OUTLINES OUR VISION AND STRATEGY FOR THE REHABILITATION AND EXPANSION OF THE HISTORIC MCCARTY HOUSE BED & BREAKFAST.
Project Scope - The scope of this development includes:
Rehabilitation: As referred to in Robert Inwood's accompanying Heritage Assessment, this proposal is classified as a 'Rehabilitation' as defined in Chapter 2 of the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada. We commit to extensive exterior rehabilitation work on McCarty House to restore its heritage value, corner prominence, and standing as a historical Revelstoke landmark. This will be achieved through the repair and, if necessary, replacement of deteriorated features such as siding and trim, and the reinstatement of lost historical features such as balconies and the steeply pitched turret.
Additions: The existing structure will be expanded to accommodate a three-storey building with a basement, housing a total of 23 guest rooms. The ground floor will feature a public restaurant facing Mackenzie Avenue.
Vision and Objectives - The McCarty House project is designed to showcase the history and craftsmanship of the original structure to both visitors and community members. Our key objectives include:
Enhancing Historical Value: Highlighting the rich history of Revelstoke by preserving and showcasing the architectural beauty and historical significance of McCarty House.
Creating Community Spaces: Providing inviting spaces where guests and locals can interact and enjoy the unique ambiance of McCarty House, including “the parlour,” the front sitting room, the après bar, the restaurant, and the patio.
Offering Unique Experiences: Creating a niche experience akin to a living museum, where guests can immerse themselves in the history and culture of Revelstoke while enjoying modern amenities.
